Other Road Bridges

A wide range of other generic types of road bridges have been designed by Cass Hayward from simple shorter span concrete slab bridges such as the timber clad Bute Park access bridge in Cardiff to the longer span overhead bowstring arches bridges that are popular for landmark structures. An early example is our Centre Park bowstring truss bridge in Warrington which was erected as a completed steel frame for its full 50m length. Our 36m long asymmetric skewed parabolic arch design for the reconstruction of Newport Street bridge outside Bolton Station provides a distinctive feature to the redevelopment of this part of the town.

We have also acted as independent checker for a number of prominent structures of this type around the UK including the 96m span Clyde Arc in Glasgow and the A71 Foulerton Arches bridge over the River Irvine for which we also provided construction advice.
