Highway Bridges

Cass Hayward involvement in the highways sector has predominantly involved bridges supporting motorways, trunk roads and principal roads together with pedestrian and cycleway bridges over these. Our highway bridge designs have been for bridges carrying new roads, new or replacement bridges carrying existing roads and for widening, strengthening or refurbishment of existing bridges. Our commissions have been associated with road improvements, new accesses to developments and to preserve routes over life-expired structures.

Our highways bridges are constructed using steel, concrete and composite construction and include viaducts and river/estuarial crossings and low maintenance integral solutions. Some of our longer span solutions with special architectural merit include bridges suspended from masts and arches using cables. Many of our projects required method-led solutions to overcome construction constraints and were purpose-designed for launching and other special installation techniques.
